Biography
Lauren DeMars has been working in the field of education for more than 32 years. Her experience includes work in public and private schools as an elementary classroom teacher, literacy coach, school principal, and reading specialist. For the past five years, Mrs. DeMars served as the Reading Specialist at Canterbury School in Fort Myers, Florida where she provided small group reading intervention for students. She has a Master of Education in Literacy and Leadership and is Certified by the International Dyslexia Association and Center for Effective Reading Instruction. As a Level 4 IMSE OG Master Instructor, Mrs. DeMars currently tutors students in grades K-5 and trains teachers across the country in IMSE’s Orton-Gillingham methodology. Her greatest passion is getting to know students and designing personalized learning experiences that help students reach their full potential.
Mrs. DeMars uses the Orton-Gillingham approach to remediate reading, writing, and spelling through structured literacy instruction. Lessons are highly engaging and incorporate visual, auditory and kinesthetic pathways. She meets with students in a 1:1 setting, 2-3 days per week in a quiet setting where she can meet students’ individual needs.
